About Wood Gormley Elementary
A Century of Learning, Community, and Panther Pride
Our Story
Wood Gormley Elementary School has been a cornerstone of Santa Fe's East Side community since 1927. Named after two visionary leaders — Frank F. Gormley, a dedicated school board member, and James A. Wood, the former Superintendent of Santa Fe Public Schools — the school has educated generations of Santa Fe families.
The Gormley School opened in January 1927 in the Pueblo Revival architectural style. The Wood School followed in 1936, designed in the Territorial style. In 1996, the two buildings were united in a $3.5 million renovation, becoming the unified Wood Gormley Elementary School we know today.
